Where to Go Scouting Guide

Bernheim Forest consists of 13,000 acres of woodland where those who live in the city can learn about nature. Continuous programs, workshops, lectures, nature walks, and seminars are conducted with universities and nature groups. The forest is located 45 minutes south of Louisville, and is open daily from 9:00 AM to sundown, March 15 to November 15. Thirteen marked trails (approximately 23.5 miles) are approved for day use only. Overnight camping is not allowed. The trails range in length from one-half-mile to 7 miles, and offer beautiful scenery, while exposing the hiker to the splendors of nature. Two of the established trails offer a nature theme, presenting a prime opportunity for learning. There are many miles of unmarked footpaths in the forest south of the lookout tower.

Total Length: 37.45 miles
